V Aurigae is a carbon star in the Auriga constellation.

The small, deep-hued red star in the center of the image is V Auriga. V Aur is a carbon star and it is located in the Auriga constellation.

The spectral type of this star is C6,2e and it has the characteristic red hue of most other carbon stars. The star is fairly faint at magnitude 8.5, which means that a telescope is needed to view this star.

This star was cataloged as early at 1923 and was included in "The proper-motions of 315 red stars" by Wilson R. E.
